Girls Go Quantum

On the occasion of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, the Quantum Center is proud to inspire young women to pursue STEM subjects with a dedicated workshop focused on Physics.

International Day of Women and Girls in Science

Go to the German version

The UNESCO Institute for Statistics reports that women account for less than 30% of researchers worldwide. Across most countries, achieving gender equality in STEM fields (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) remains a significant challenge at all levels of education. To draw attention to this disparity and promote awareness, the United Nations established the International Day of Women and Girls in Science which is annually celebrated on February 11.

The Quantum Center at ETH will celebrate this important day on February 25, by inviting young women (10-13 years old) to visit us.

Have you ever wondered if chalk can float? Can you use a banana as a hammer? What happens if you freeze a lightbulb? Is liquid nitrogen wet? What does it taste like? Can LEDs change color with temperature?

With the help of our researchers you will be able to find the right answer!
