Quantum computing and the pharmaceutical industry - a perfect match?

Michael Streif - Quantum Computing, Boehringer Ingelheim (external pageLinkedIn)

Abstract: Quantum computing's future potential for simulating complex molecules is often considered as one of the early applications, with the pharmaceutical industry expected to be among the initial beneficiaries. In this presentation, I will discuss the current role of classical quantum chemistry calculations in the drug discovery process, examine the current state of quantum algorithms (including estimated run times), and discuss unresolved challenges. Additionally, I will discuss the necessary steps required for realizing quantum computing applications in the pharmaceutical sector.
